World AIDS Day
December 1, 2023 All day
World AIDS Day, designated annually on December 1st since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who’ve died of the disease.
Houston MediaSource joins government and health agencies, health officials, organizations, and individuals around the world in observing World AIDS Day and will air educational programming on this important topic created by our community producers.
We have a full day of programming planned for Fri. Dec. 1st including the following recent additions to the lineup:
AIDS PANEL DISCUSSION WITH LOCAL INDUSTRY EXPERTS – Air Dates 10:00 AM, 4:00 PM, and 8:00 PM on 12/1/23
The following Houston AIDS/HIV industry professionals share their personal testimonies in a compelling panel discussion moderated by Dr. Gene Preuss – Associate Professor of History, University of Houston-Downtown:
- Dr. Charlene Flash – President and CEO, Avenue 360 Health and Wellness
- Pete Rodriguez, RNBSN, ACRN – Clinical Consultant, Management Solutions Consulting Group (MSCG) for Health Resources Service Administration (HRSA)
- Jeffrey Campbell – CEO, Allies in Hope (formerly AIDS Foundation Houston)
LET THE RECORD SHOW: A Cable Access TV Premiere! This documentary, which hasn’t had official distribution anywhere outside of film festivals and private screening, will start at 11:30PM CST on November 30th with an interview by Roger Palomino (HMS Outreach Director) and continue at 12AM on December 1st with the film screening. A repeat of the interview and film will start at 11:30PM CST on December 1st. The programming will be viewable in Houston on the Houston MediaSource cable access channels: Comcast Ch. 17, AT&T U-verse Ch. 99, Phonoscope Ch. 96, Suddenlink Ch. 99.
